In the northern part of the Meseta Central, Castilla y Leon is one of the most important regions in Spain, which combines notable DOs such as Ribera del Duero, Toro, Rueda and Bierzo. Here is very hot but mountain ranges and sprawling plains as well as historic cities like Segovia and Salamanca make it worth a visit.
Castilla y Leon is known of its extensive range of Vino de la Tierra wines, which can display the full creativity and experimentalism of the region’s winemakers. Quinta Sardonia make biodynamic wines just outside the border of the DO Ribera del Duero and Alvar de Dios is creating stunning wines from his small plots near Toro DO.
