A Riesling romance

KT has been making wine in Clare Valley for over 25 years, working at prestigious vineyards before creating her own label. KT worked for 8 years at Leasingham wines and brought that expertise and her love of Riesling to her own winery. She describes Riesling as a pure reflection of its postcode – hence the 5452 series! The Valley’s colder nights, elevated sites, and ideal slate and stone soil types all create concentrated fruit, as well as powerful elegance in her wines, especially in the Watervale area where she has mastered her craft.

The 5452 is a unique Riesling blend from parcels in the Watervale area, including the Peglidis vineyard. Its dry and zesty with varietal citrus and punchy fruit characters with a crisp finish. Grown by the Koerner family in the hamlet of Leasingham, the vermentino undergoes wild fermentation and is delightfully aromatic and floral. The Churinga vineyard was planted in 1954 and these handpicked grapes produce a concentrated Riesling with punchy stone fruit flavour together with succulent and mouth-watering acidity. The Shiraz is vibrant with bright red berry fruit, spice, and long tannins helped by French oak barrique.
