Damien’s family have farmed these lands for six generations as you can tell from his connection with every inch of it. From vineyards across Stone Well, Gnadenfrei and Greenock Creek, the Tscharke wines have great richness and longevity, namely from the prized soils of the Western Ridge; these are some of the oldest vineyards in the Barossa. Everything is done here in the name of sustainability – they see organic and biodynamic to be the expectation. Stone well is our chosen vineyard for their wines, with higher rainfall than the norm in Barossa and great undulating clay hills for grape growing.
The Shiraz, Shiraz, Shiraz comes from 3 parcels and is quintessential, elegant shiraz. This wine combines blueberry and plum with a gamey savouriness. Only 2800 bottles made of the Albarino – peach and nectarine, green melon, little bit of nutmeg spice, full bodied. The ‘stone well’ are their single vineyard wines: The grenache; a seductive combination of cherry, ripe strawberry and rhubarb and dried woody herbs, and the Shiraz; brooding with dark concentrated fruit and spices.
