Historic Tuscan estate Castello di Bossi has seen their 'SuperTuscan' Corbaia 2008 bestowed with a coveted Gold medal at the 2013 Decanter World Wine Awards. The annual awards continue to go from strength to strength and this year saw over 14,000 wines submitted from across the World, of which only 229 received a Gold medal.
The estate already enjoyed an exceptional combination of ideal soils, Micro-climate and exposure to the sun, but has benefited greatly from the considerable investment by Marco Bacci over the last 20 years. A large amount of this has been in the winery, which is now state of the art and kept scrupulously clean, to ensure the wines leaving are of only the highest standard.
Corbaia is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet aged in 80% new French barriques. It’s Michaels' favourite wine from the estate as it captures the essence of the super-Tuscan: a marriage of France and Italy with the elegance of the former setting off the power of the latter.
